The inherent unique physical and mineral properties of the Rockmart Slate make it an incredibly versatile material that has potential in a number of varied applications including:  roofing material, paint filler, carpet backing, insulation production, sand blasting material and agricultural and horticultural soil amendments.  Over the past ten years, extensive testing of the Rockmart Slate has been done by two major asphalt roofing shingle manufacturers.  Testing results have proven that the Rockmart Slate can be used in the production of colored roofing granules, head lap granules and back surfacing material.
